Romanian Open- European Cup 08.10.2011
        On 08.10.2011, in EXPO ARAD INTERNATIONAL CENTER in the city of Arad- Romania, the Romanian Open European Cup in karate Shinkyokushin for cadets and juniors had taken place. The fifth edition was exceptionally strong- about 200 European contestants took part in the championship. For yet another year the contestants of SK "Kyokushin"- city of Shumen left a memorable record of participation on this big forum. The city's karate fighters conquered 3 gold, 1 silver and 3 bronze medals in the race of both age groups.
     First in the juniors category up to 60kg ranked the two time European champion Bogomil Tiholov, who successfully pushed his strength into a higher category, knocking out Yurchenko Nazar of Ukraine in the quarter finals, and then taking out Molnar Benz of Hungary with another knockout on the semi-finals. He faced Alen Ivanov of Sevlievo in the Bulgarian finals in the category, but our contestant's greater international experience paid off and he won in the regular time.
     In the same age group, up to 70kg, a gold medallist became the other Shumen national Georgi Yordanov, who eliminated Dominik Parol- Shinkyokushin team Tomasz Basiak in the semi-finals, followed by a tough final against Pasku Marc Eduard- SC Karate Bistrita, but our youth overcame his opponent by a vazaari grade in the second overtime.
     Champion for the cadets up to 65kg was pronounced Mark Chervenkov, for the over joy of all his teammates, as this was his first participation in an international championship.
     In the same age group the silver medal went to Osman Osman, who prevailed over Mureshan Radu Marius- SC Tiger Budo Targu Muresh in the quarter-finals, and Pop-Narcis- C.S. Kanku Baia Mare in the semi-finals. Unfortunately, the Shumen contestant suffered a severe injury to his arm, forcing him to drop out of the event.
     Bronze bearers were pronounced:
     1. Vanio Vulchanov in juniors up to 65kg, who dominated convincingly by vazaari grade over Iliu Cristian Vangelis- C.S. GYM Oradea in quarter-finals, but on the semi-finals tough luck matched him against the other Bulgarian contestant, who became champion of the category- Stephan Lotarov of ASKK Trakia- city of Plovdiv, and our fighter lost by decision of the jury.
     2. Denis Muzikyarov in juniors up to 75kg.
     3. Ivelina Petrova in cadet females up to 55kg, participating in her first international event.
     The team of Shoumen was sponsored for the European Cup- Romanian Open by:
The municipality of Shoumen, mr. Lyatif Sali Lyatif; "Strongstroy" Inc. with manager mr. Niazi Ahmed; "Ultima" Inc., "Agrointernational" Inc. with manager mr. Ilian Angelov Grozdin. The karate fighters of Shumen full-heartedly thank their friends, without whose help they would not been able to participate in this strong competition.
     The contestants of SK Kyokushin- city of Shoumen resume their trainings for the following Regional (North) Competition for all age groups, which will take place at the end of October.

The Training camp in the rest base of the Municipality of Shumen near Shkorpilovtzi 2011
        From 25.08.2011 to 31.08.2011 32 competitors of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen held a training camp in the rest base of the Municipality of Shumen near Shkorpilovtzi. Training sessions were held twice a day under the leadership of senpai Daniel Dimitrov - II dan /senior instructor of the club/, senpai Stoian Obretenov - II dan /chairman of the club/, two-time european champion Bogomil Tiholov and senpai Aidan Ahmed /instructor in the branch club in OU "St. St. Kiril i Metodi" in Tzarev Brod/.
     The first training sessions started early in the morning with a long-distance race on the beach strand. After that in the main part of the sessions Shumen's competitors were divided into three groups, focusing on the three integral components of Shinkyokushin karate - kihon, kata and kumite.
     The second training sessions for the day was with the team of SC "Kyokushin", who are preparing for the Romanian Open - European Cup, which will take place on 08.10.2011 in Arad, Romania. It was fully concentrated on kumite and condition training for the competitors. After dinner the karatekas of Shumen watched videotapes of european and world championships in Shinkyokushin karate with the participation of some of the best titled men and women of the national team. Ofcourse the fighters had enough time for the beach fun and games, which brought the participants in this training camp closer as a team, both the youngest and the oldest.
     The training camp for SC "Kyokushin" and it's young talents was an award from the mayor of Shumen Mr. Krasimir Kostov for their exceptional performance in the National championships and tournaments for cups during the first half of the sports calendar of the Bulgarian Karate Shinkyokushin Federation.
     Other than Municipality of Shumen sponsors of Shumen's club were:
     ET Varnalia - M. Alishev - Timarevo and ZEMIA 96 Ltd. with chairman Mr. Ivan Ivanov.
     The next event for the competitors of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen will be the traditional training camp for kadets, which will take place in Kotel. It is entirely focused on sparring technique and is part of the preaparation for the European cup in Romania.

The Traditional summer training camp - Primorsko 2011
        From 05.07.2011 to 10.07.2011 in Primorsko took place the traditional summer training camp in Shinkyokushin karate. In this large event of the Bulgarian Karate Shinkyokushin Federation participated around 300 karatekas from clubs of the whole country.
      The camp was under the leadership of sensi Kunihiro Suzuki - Japan /world champion and second place in the absolute category, as well as many titles in Japan/, sensei Valeri Dimitrov - IIIrd dan /nine-time european and two-time world champion/, sensei Georgi Popov - IVth dan /senior coach of the National team for men and women and technical director of the BKSF.
     There were two training sessions per day in a very friendly atmosphere and in them all the participants in the camp could learn from the mastery of some of the biggest names in Shinkyokushin karate.
     The competitors of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen have come home enriched with many new friends and experiences.
