Summary News of the competitive year 2010, Shumen
During 2010 the karatekas of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen had their best year in the history of the club, winning a total of 114 medals in all age categories of official events from the sports calendar of the Bulgarian Karate-do Kyokushin Federation. Shumen's fighters also had a strong presence in the European championship in Kyokushin karate, which took place on the 4th and 5th of July in Logrono, Spain.
The greatest joy was brought to us by the youngest member of the national team Bogomil Tiholov, who won the first european title for our club in the juniors 55kg category. In his first match he decisively won against Robert Jenenfli of Hungary, in his quarterfinal he knocked out Joaquin Navarro of Spain, in his semifinal he unappealably defeated Yuriy Klymko of Ukraine. After that came a very close final against the other bulgarian national in this category - Stefan Chervenkov. Both fighters knew each other well, because they have fought many finals against eachother, not just on our national championships and tournaments, but on the Romanian Open Cup as well and that made the match all the more interesting.
In the women 65kg category Tsvetelina Marinova placed third, winning her quarterfinal match against Alexander Vulevii from Danemark. In a close match in the semifinal against Hungary's Csenge Szepesi only bad luck stopped Tsvetelina from victory.
