National tournament for the "Plovdiv" cup, Plovdiv 2010
On 27.11.2010 in the "Olimpiada" hall in Plovdiv was held the National tournament for the "Plovdiv" cup in Shinkyokushin karate for kadets. In the competition, which ran under the perfect organisation of the hosting Army Sports Karate Club "Trakia", participated many of the Bulgarian Karate-do Kyokushin Federation's young talents from clubs of the whole country, among which were many of the competitors in the National team that went to the European championship in Spain.
An excellent performance was made by the competitors of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen (with chairman Stoyan Obretenov - II dan), who won two gold and three bronze medals.
In the kadets 55kg category the European champion Bogomil Tiholov ran over the competition, winning his semifinal with ipon and in his final match defeating his opponent with avasete ipon /two vazaari/ and very deservingly took the highest place on the honorable ladder.
The other gold medal for Shumen's club was won by Zarah Kichuk in the kadets 75kg category. In his semifinal he won by referee's decision over a competitor of the hosting club and in his final he defeated his opponent with ipon after a very well placed inside low kick.
A bronze medal in the 65kg category was won by Dimitar Dimitrov, who won his first match with avasete ipon after well placed djodan mawashi geri and shita-ski. In his quarterfinal he won by referee's decision, but unfortunately got badly injured which stopped him fro competing with full strength in the semifinal and he took third place.
In the kadets 70kg category a bronze medalist became Georgi Iordanov, who in his quarterfinal defeated his opponent from Nova Zagora with two vazaari after brilliantly executed djodan mawashi geri and chudan mawashi geri, but in his semifinal he was paired up with the silver medalist of the European championship Stanislav Komsalov. Our competitor fought valiantly in a very close match - after regular time and two extra time periods Pazardjik's competitor decided the match in his favor with a slight lead.
The other bronze medal in the 60kg category for Shumen was won by Vanio Valchanov /who competes in the juniors categories/. Our karateka won decisively his quarterfinal with vazaari after a strong series of shita-ski and hidza geri. Unfortunately he stepped up to his semifinal overconfident, which reflected his game and in the end the referees decided in favor of his opponent from Sevlievo.
The competitors of SC "Kyokushin" Shumen continue their training for the upcoming Tournament for the "Shumenska Krepost" cup for children up to 10, 12 and 14 years of age - kumite, children - kata and boys and girls - kata, which will take place on 04.12.2010 in the "Pliska" hall in Shumen.
