The fourth edition of the tournament was exceptionally strong - in it took part around 200 competitors from Europe. To our joy the bulgarian team made a great performance, winning 4 gold, 5 silver and 5 bronze medals. The young talents of the Bulgarian Karate-do Kyokushin Federation from the clubs ASKC "Trakia" Plovdiv, SC "Kyokushin" Shumen, SC "Kyokushin" Novi Pazar, SC "Kyokushin" Sevlievo, SC "Kyokushin" Dimitrovgrad, SC "Russe" Russe, KBI "Bushido" Nesebar and SC "Ishinkan" Blagoevgrad defended the name of one of the strongest countries in European Shinkyokushin.
For another consecutive year SC "Kyokushin" Shumen and SC "Kyokushin" Novi Pazar's competitors had a strong presence in this great forum. Shumen's karatekas took 1 gold and 4 bronze medals in two age groups. Champion in the kadets 55kg category became Bogomil Tiholov, the finals in this category being fought by Bulgarians. Shumen's competitor faced off against Georgi Minchev of SC "Kyokushin" Novi Pazar, who in his semifinal match defeated Jelenfi Robert from Hungary. Bogomil's greater experience was what helped him win this match.
In the kadets 65kg category Dimitar Dimitrov won the bronze by knocking out Feher Imre from Hungary in the quarterfinals, followed by a very tough semifinal match against Igor Kobilko of Ukraine. In regular time our competitor was very close to the win, but his ukrainian opponent was very durable and endured the pressure, defeating Shumen's competitor in the following extra time because of the ammount of fatigue on Dimitrov. Kobilko was able to show more activity and the judges ruled in his favor.
In the juniors 60kg category another bronze medal for Shumen was won by Vanio Valchanov, who won his eight- and quarterfinal matches with vazaari after very attractive matches against Brzuchacz Kamil of Poland and Daraban Catalin of Romania and was very close to a higher place on the standings.
In the juniors 65kg category the bronze was taken by Georgi Iordanov, who in his quarterfinal match decisively won agaisnt Ferents Rotyslav of Lvov, but was seriously injured in his semifinal match against Biletskiy Oleksandr from Ukraine, which took him out of the competition.
The last bronze medal for SC "Kyokushin" Shumen was won by Osman Osman, who in his quarterfinal defeated Marmaroshi Daniel of Hungary, followed by a very close semifinal bout against Szabolcs Marco of Hungary as well. Our competitor was on even ground with his opponent and unfortunately lost because a weight difference of a little over 3kg between the competitors. Strong matches were fought by Denis Muzekiarov and Pavel Velchev as well and even though they did not win medals, they showed good potential for the future.
